Non-Beauty Favourites

My first post with my new blog template. I'm very happy with it and I hope you guys like it too. I've never done a Non-Beauty Favourites post before but I've been loving a lot of things lately that I thought I would share with everyone.
Heart Necklace
I got this necklace as a birthday gift last month. (Click here to see what else I got for my birthday). I have gotten so many compliments on it. It’s so gorgeous with a combination of gold, rose gold and sparkly silver. It comes from a store in Brighton called the Red Gecko.

Ikea Pig
I have the bestest best friend ever! My Bestie knew that I had been feeling a little down the last few weeks so she got me this adorable and soft stuffed pig to cuddle. Isn’t that sweet! I believe I’ve mentioned it on my blog a few times before but I’m absolutely obsessed with Pigs and I collect anything to do with them so this was the perfect pick me up.

Bath and Body Works London Calling Candle
This tea and lemon scented candle smells so good. I think it’s perfect for autumn when things are starting to get cooler out and iced tea gets replaced with cozy cups of hot tea. I’ve been burning it a lot lately.

Matcha Green Tea
I start every morning with a Matcha Green Tea Latte. I absolutely love Matcha powder! Besides the health benefits, it just tastes amazing. If you’ve never heard of Matcha before it is finely ground up green tea leaves. My favourite order at Starbucks is the Green Tea Latte and with this powder you can make Starbucks quality drinks at home. If anyone is interested I can do a recipe post on how I make my Matcha Latte’s. I get my Matcha from a health food store near me but David’s Tea also stocks it.

Clear Eyes Eyedrops
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Loose! This is kind of a weird favourite to have but I have been wearing my contacts a lot lately and combined with allergies, my eyes have been really red and itchy. These eye drops have been a real life saver.

Forever 21 Backpack
This is the backpack I wore all over the UK and Ireland this summer. It’s small and cute so I still looked fashionable but it was able to hold all the things I needed it to for each day trip. It has a nice big zip front pocket with gold hardware and two small side pockets.

Daily Planner
We’re back to September. To be completely honest this is one of my least favourite months of the year. I always find the transition from the relaxed summer months to the entirely hectic back to school month of September really hard. I know without my daily planner, my life would a mess. This planner makes it really easy to organize my days while also giving me a week at a glance. It’s also super cute and colourful. I got my planner from Indigo.

Digby
My forever favourite! I missed my little boy so much while I was away for a month this summer. This is Digby and he’s my 11 year old Maltese/Havanese dog. He’s completely adorable and cuddly but he’s also full of energy. He brightens my day everyday.

Top 3 Series: Highlighters

I love a good highlight so I thought this would be the perfect product to start off my new series. I'll be picking out my Top 3 favourites from different product categories.

Charlotte Tilbury Bronze and Glow
The Bronzer in this palette is gorgeous but it's this highlighter that I find myself reaching for daily. This gives you a very golden glow. The powder is really finely milled so it's shimmery without being glittery. It sits right on the edge of being a natural glow and an obvious highlight.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
This is the most natural of the highlights listed. It gives you a lit from within glow that is literally breathtaking. I like to apply it with my fingers to the tops of my cheekbones but since it's a liquid highlighter it can also be blended in with your foundation for an all over glow. I just have the small size but I'll definitely be repurchasing the larger bottle once this one runs out.

TheBalm Mary Lou Manizer
This is a popular highlighter for it's intensity and glow. I also love using this as an eyeshadow all over the lid or in my inner corners. This is a true champagne highlighter and it works really well with my fair skin. I will say this isn't a natural highlight so a light hand is needed.

Zoella Beauty Review

Zoella is a well know entity in the beauty community. If you don't know who she is I'm just going to assume you live under a rock. About a year ago Zoe launched a beauty line with lots of wonderful bath products. Just this summer she added a new range of fruity scented products.
When I was in the UK this summer I stopped into Superdrug and picked up some items from both her original and new ranges.
Fizz Bar Bath Fizzers
This is one of the products that launched with the original Zoella Beauty scent. I think I slightly prefer this scent to the new fruity scent. These fizzers make a bath much more enjoyable. The scent is really relaxing and the fizzing is fun to watch. This product looks like a chocolate bar and gets broken up into 8 squares. I usually put 2 in my bath. How cute is this packaging! I love the pink polka dots and the rose gold detailing. This is my favourite product from her entire line.

 Fresh Fizz Bath Fizzer
This is very similar to the original Bath Fizz but with the new fruity scent. This scent is very fresh and I find makes for a more rejuvenating bath than a relaxing one. Another difference is the squares are broken up a little differently. The packaging on this product is cute too. I especially like the lace.

Candy Cream Softening Body Lotion
I really love this body lotion. It has the same fruity scent as the others in this range. This lotion sinks in really fast and there are little bursting beads that make your skin feel much softer and smoother. It also is very hydrating.

Kissy Missy Lip Balm
I'm also a big fan of this hot pink tinted lip balm. It has a sweet scent and feels really moisturizing on the lips. The colour can be built up to be a really intense pink but applied lightly it just gives the lips a light flush of colour. The one downside for me is these lip balm pots feel a little unhygienic.

Just to clarify this post is NOT sponsored, I am just a fan of Zoe and her line.
If you want to get her products, you can find them here.
If, for some reason, you've never watched any of Zoe's video's (and you've crawled out from under that rock) you can visit her youtube channel here.

What your favourite product from Zoella Beauty? It was just announced Zoe has a Christmas Range so what are you most looking forward to getting?

Room Tour

This is a very different style post for my blog. Until now my blog has been almost exclusively makeup and beauty, and I will continue to post mostly makeup or beauty content but I thought I would also branch out a little so a few times a month you might find a non-beauty post.
I love decorating and I am very happy with my room at the moment so I thought I would share a few of my favourite parts.
The colour theme for my room includes purples, lime green and grey as displayed by my curtains (Ikea)
The flower twinkle lights on my very purple bed - they're not plugged in so it's safe
My bedroom light is this beautiful chandelier from Ikea
My bed side table with my beautiful lamp
My makeup vanity
We've now finished the tour of my main room, now onto my sun-room which is adjacent to my bedroom.
I have a map with pins showing where I've been and where I want to go
My inspirational Disney quote
My big bookshelf - sorry it's so unorganized and messy!
My smaller hidden bookshelf (My dad actually made this bookshelf for me) and butterfly ceiling decal
My couch-  perfect for snuggling up with a book (or textbook ugh!)
I hope you've enjoyed this small tour around my room!
There are many things missing which may mean a Room Tour pt.2 in the future (feat. my desk, dresser, canopy bed etc.). Let me know if you want any more information on any of the items I've shown.
Do you have any favourite items in your room?

My Sunday Night Skincare Routine

I've never done a skincare routine post before so I thought I would start with my most complicated routine. Sunday nights are when I give my skin a real pampering and I get my skin ready to face the rest of the week so when I wake up on Monday morning my skin feels really soft and fresh. I'll start by letting you know that I have very dry, sensitive skin.
The first step to any good skincare routine is removing the day's makeup. I have used Bioderma for a few years now and it's a completely holy grail product for me. I just take some on a cotton pad and gently wipe away my face and eye makeup. It's as gentle as water and removes makeup so easily, it's like magic.
The next step in my routine is cleansing. I've recently started using the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm and I'm totally in love. I'll be doing a full review once I've tested it a little longer. It's gentle on my skin and makes my skin feel really smooth and clean without over drying it.
Next I do one of my twice a week face scrubs. My favourite face scrub is the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish. It's gentle on my sensitive skin and removes all the dry skin leaving my face feeling truly radiant.
I do face masks on Sundays but it's not always the same one. The mask I use will depend on how my skin is feeling that week. I will often use the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask because it leaves my skin feeling smooth and my pores looking smaller.
When I notice I'm getting blackheads I will always pull out my Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment. This mask just draws all of the impurities out of my skin and leaves it feeling amazing. However it costs an arm and a leg so I use it sparingly.
On Sunday nights I sleep with a hydrating skin mask. I most often reach for my Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment. During the winter months I may use a hydrating mask again halfway through the week when I notice my skin getting too dry.
I thought I would also include my regular nightly face creams (which I usually apply after cleansing). My favourite product to use when my skin is dry is the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. I use 3-5 drops and pat it into my skin. On nights when my skin is feeling a little better I will use the Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins which makes my skin feel smoother and look more radiant in the morning.

I hope you've enjoyed this look at my Sunday Night Skincare Routine. I was thinking of doing a post on my Morning Skincare routine which is a little less complicated but involves completely different products, so let me know if you're interested in that.
What's involved in your nightly skincare routine?

Best of the Drugstore: Drugstore Week

It's the last day of Drugstore Week and what better way to finish than with my favourites from the drugstore. I've done quite a few posts like this in the past so I'll link those at the end of this post. I didn't look at my previous posts before doing this one. I tried to go through my collection and pick all my current favourites. So here we go!

Best Face

Bioderma
This has always been my holy grail makeup remover. It works better than anything else I've ever used and it's so gentle on my skin. This is a product that is sold at drugstores in Canada for about $17. I'm not entirely sure if it would be considered a drugstore product in other places in the world but it is here so I'm including it.
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer
This concealer has a high coverage, it's really creamy and has quickly become one of my favourites. I especially like how it also comes with a powder to set it.
Rimmel Match Perfection
I really love Rimmel foundations. This one is particularly nice. It's medium coverage but looks really natural on the skin. It's not as radiant as Rimmel's Wake Me Up but it's not matte or dull either.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
Like the Rimmel foundation, this is really natural looking on the skin but I'd say it's more of a light coverage. It has a really runny texture which I find makes it a little easier to blend and it also smells nice.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Lots of people name this as their favourite drugstore concealer and it's made it's way into my favourites as well. In my dupes post I compared this to Nars Radiant Concealer and it's very similar as it has good coverage and is really creamy.

Best Cheeks

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
I'm pretty sure every blogger has heard about this blush. In the summer months, this is my most used blush by far. It's a very shimmery peach colour and the glow it gives me makes me look tan like nothing else.
NYX Powder Blush in Angel
This is my all time favourite natural blush. It is a matte soft pink that adds some very subtle colour to the cheeks. I wear it all the time.
Soap and Glory Solar Power Bronzer
This bronzer gives your skin a sunkissed glow while looking extremely natural. It has quickly made it's way into my daily makeup bag.

Best Eyes

L'Oreal La Couleur Infailible
I've raved about this pressed pigment eyeshadow in many of my past posts and it's still one of my favourite drugstore eyeshadow formulations. It's so creamy and pigmented (duh! it's a pressed pigment) and the shade (033) Tender Caramel is especially beautiful.
Maybelline 24/7 Color Tattoo
Everyone has heard about the amazingness that are the Maybelline Color Tattoos. They're creamy and so incredibly long lasting. I love using them as a base for other eyeshadows or on their own.
L'Oreal Color Riche Mono
L'Oreal shadows are just some of the best from the drugstore. This one is very pigmented and blendable.
Soap and Glory Archery Pencil
Best drugstore brow product by far. This may actually rival my Anastasia Brow Wiz in how natural it makes my brows look. The pen side is great at imitating brow hairs and filling in sparce areas and the pencil side shapes the brows.

Best Lips

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107
If I'm looking for a statement lip I almost always reach for this lipstick. It's a dark almost berry red. It's matte and the formula is very long lasting.
Maybelline Color Sensational Matte in Touch of Spice
In the winter months this is one of my favourite lipsticks. It's a dark but wearable everyday shade and because it's matte it lasts a long time on the lips. The formulation is also really comfortable.
NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops
This is my perfect "My Lips But Better" lipstick. I wear it almost everyday. Not only does it smell amazing but it also feels really comfortable on my lips and it lasts a while before needing to reapply.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey
I've spoken about this lip product so much on my blog. You are probably all getting sick of hearing about it so I'll keep it short. This is a very natural, comfortable lip stain that has been on my favourites list for years.

Disappointing Drugstore Products: Drugstore Week

Drugstore Week Continues! Today's post is Disappointing Drugstore Products. I always feel the need to preface disappointing product reviews with a disclaimer that just because I was disappointed with a product doesn't mean it's a bad product. My least favourite product could be someone's holy grail product. I also really love all of the brands I will be talking about today, even if some of their products were disappointing. I never want to insult anyone but I do want to provide honest reviews.

Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick in Make a Mauve
I received this in an Ipsy bag so I didn't get to choose the colour which may be my least favourite part of this blush. It's way to dark for my skin tone. I also don't like the chunks of glitter throughout.

Maybelline Brow Drama in Soft Brown
This is a decent tinted brow gel but I am not a fan of the huge circular brush applicator. It also has a tendency to clump and build up really easily. I had heard a lot of good things about this brow gel so I was expecting more. I gave this one to my mom and she seems to be making use of it.

Bourjois Aqua Blush in Nude
My main complaint about this liquid blush is that when you blend it in it with your fingers gets really clumpy, really quickly. It kind of pills (I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about so I included a picture). I think this could be better when used with the correct brush but I'm really put off by how easily it clumps. It's a unique formula so wanted this blush to be better.
It got clumpy when I tried to swatch it
L'Oreal Super Liner Duo Precision
I really wanted to like this liner more than I did. It's staying power is terrible. It flakes off almost immediately. It also has a shiny finish which is never my preference with liquid liners. The applicator is also kind of flimsy which makes it hard to draw a straight line.

Covergirl Eyeshadow in Shimmering Sands
This is probably a really good eyeshadow for beginners because it's not too pigmented and therefore very forgiving if you make a mistake. However I'm used to higher quality shadows so I find this trio quite frustrating. I also believe when Covergirl changed their packaging the formulation also changed. Correct me if I'm wrong. I was just not impressed.

U.K. Drugstore Tutorial: Drugstore Week

Drugstore week continues! For today's post I wanted to do a tutorial with makeup you could find in a United Kingdom drugstore. Since my North American Drugstore Tutorial was warm toned and bronze, I thought I would do a cool toned look for my U.K. Drugstore Makeup Tutorial.
To start with my base I used the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. For concealer I used my Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer both under my eyes and on any redness or blemishes. I also brought this onto my eyelid to act as my eyeshadow base.
Onto the star of this look, the eyes. I used the I ♥ Makeup by Makeup Revolution Naked Chocolate Palette. I started with the shade Tob-le-rone buffed out in my crease. I then took the shade Dipped all over the lid. In my outer V I blended the shade Delight. To highlight my browbone I used Smoothly and to highlight my inner corner I used Adorable. On my lower lashline I blended together Dipped and Delight.
To line my eyes I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Liner in Brown. I finished up the eyes with my essence Lash Princess Mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
For my brows I filled them in with the Soap and Glory Archery Pencil. For blush I used my Sleek Pink Lemonade Blush by 3 palette and the shade Icing Sugar. For bronzer I used Soap and Glory Solar Power Bronzer around the edges of my face and to gently contour. As a last touch I used my Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Crayon in Nudist.
Stay tuned for the rest of Drugstore Week.
